About Us

Exterior view of Elks Lodge with mountains in the background.

Pull up to 900 Wolcott Ave and the first thing you notice is that grand wraparound porch, the kind that invites you to slow down. Beacon Elks Lodge 1493 sits on a hill with a view that reminds you why people move to the Hudson Valley in the first place. The building itself tells a story, and the members inside are happy to fill in the chapters.

What sets Lodge 1493 apart is something that shows up again and again from visitors who stumbled in as strangers and left as friends. Travelers from the Pacific Northwest, road-trippers from Ohio, families attending weekend events, all of them walk away talking about the same thing: the people. The bar is well-stocked, the atmosphere is genuinely relaxed, and nobody here makes you feel like an outsider.

The Elks' mission runs deeper than a social club. Lodge 1493 supports veterans, funds scholarships, and serves the Beacon, NY community through volunteer-driven programs year-round. A 4.7-star rating across 73 reviews doesn't happen by accident. It happens when a place actually lives up to what it promises.

What We Offer

The lodge offers a full-service bar open to members and eligible guests, a setting that earns compliments for being friendly without being flashy. Events rotate through the calendar regularly, from holiday gatherings to community fundraisers, and the staff running those events consistently draws praise for being organized and attentive.

Lodge 1493 also extends genuine hospitality to travelers in a way few establishments do. Self-contained travelers have been welcomed to park on the property overnight, a small gesture that speaks volumes about the character of the membership. Whether you're attending a ticketed event, joining as a new member, or simply exploring what the Elks are about, the door on Wolcott Ave is one worth opening.

Membership unlocks access to the lodge's full calendar of events, community initiatives, scholarship programs supporting local students, and veteran outreach efforts coordinated through the national BPOE organization.

"Beautiful old building w/grand porch & view. Great bar (no food) & VERY friendly & welcoming members. We were passing thru in our (self contained) van from PNW & they allowed us to park there. They also encouraged us to hop the train to NYC, something that was not on our radar & out of our comfort zone. But we did it & had such a fab day we will never forget! The town is adorable as well & easy to walk thru. Ty Beacon Elks!"

"I attended an event at this Elks Lodge on Saturday, October 31, 2021, 12-5PM. The staff and volunteers were very professional and friendly. Everyone was on the ball to make sure everyone was taken care of very well. Although as per the signage, anyone who is vaccinated does not need to wear a face mask, in spite of the fact that I AM fully vaccinated against covid19, I still wore a face mask when I was neither eating nor drinking. The location is large, with lots of greenery and Autumn leaves. In addition, there is a long porch with plenty of seats and some of the seats have small wooden side tables. I would definitely return."
